From The Wedding: Story Two: I Prefer “Vintage” to “Relic”
Devotional Moment: Letting Go with Grace
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
—Proverbs 3:5–6, NASB95
There’s a quiet kind of heartbreak that comes with letting go—not because we’re weak, but because we’ve held on so fiercely, so faithfully, for so long.
As mothers, it’s easy to believe that our identity is tied to the role we’ve played for so many years: planner, protector, peacemaker, snack-bringer, chaos-coordinator. But God gently reminds us that our identity was never meant to stay there. We are first and always His.
This week, I’m learning (again) to unclench my fists and hand over the plans—to trade Pinterest boards for prayer and control for trust. I’m reminding my heart that I am not being pushed out… I’m being invited in—just differently.
If you’re in a season of change, too—if your title is shifting, your home is quieter, or your heart is grieving the “used-to-be”—you’re not alone. Grieve. Celebrate. Do both. And in it all, trust Him with what comes next.
Because He sees your heart.
And He still calls you by name. – Isaiah 43:1
